There are numerous books and novels set in the Warhammer, 40k, and LOTD universe.  Of them Dan Abnett has written quite a few, and has been proclaimed as the harbinger of good gaming literature.  His writing vies on the level of Tom Clancy, and his mastery of the english language is unparrallelled. The Founding covers the first three books of his world renoun Gaunt’s Ghost series.

Warhammer 40,000, The Tabletop Battlegame of the Far Future, allows you to wage war with armies of Citadel miniatures across tabletop battlefields in the ultimate contest of strategy and skill. Each player is a general, who must choose his finest warriors, decide upon cunning battle plans and strategies and lead his followers to victory or death. Games can vary in size from small skirmishes of just a few dozen models per side, to massive clashes with literally hundreds of miniatures.
